Freedom’s Time

Freedom is the bliss of nations and individuals. Eternal life is likewise the bliss of individuals. Yet I am realistic in my mind, and I do not believe in either of these forms of bliss. It has always been so that people pursue whatever is the ideal of their age. I will tell you the truth: no one has freedom—not individuals, not nations. All of us are dependent on one another. Freedom is guarded by Law with its countless clauses.

As for Eternal Life, it is a taboo, some vague disturbance of the mind. Dear Reader, have you ever truly considered how impossible and difficult it would be to live forever? Even if the circumstances were good, the human mind would soon grow weary of that state as well. And what if the circumstances were harsh, each day repeating itself…in pain and sorrow? And what if you could not even die? Not even death would grant mercy from a life turned into horror.

What could you trust in, you poor soul? In a good God? Such a being does not exist. Only in the doctrines of Churches is he glorified, for selfish reasons. And what of the Lord, Jesus Christ, who is said to grant a paradisiacal future? A futile hope—he is only a literary construct.
